RJ Barrett scored a new career-high in a blowout win against the Atlanta Hawks on Tuesday. The Maple Mamba gave the Knicks 27 points on 10-13 shooting in the Knicks 143-120 win at Madison Square Garden.
The Knicks 143 points were the most in a single game since 1980. Despite an explosive 42 point outing from Trae Young, New York was able to get buckets from everywhere. RJ led the team with 27, followed by a 22 point game from both Mitchell Robinson and Marcus Morris. Kevin Knox and Julius Randle both chipped in 17.
The Knicks have now won 3 of their last 4 games under new head coach Mike Miller. David Fizdale was fired from the Knicks last week after overseeing a Knicks team that was 4-18 prior to his termination.
“We’re playing defense and we’re moving the ball. Everybody’s in double figures everybody’s scoring everybody’s playing together,” RJ said in a post-game interview addressing what changed in the last few games.
The Knicks will have a couple of days off before heading to American Airlines Arena to play their division rival the Miami Heat.
