When it comes to pro wrestling, nothing is ever final.

According to Mike Johnson, writing for PWInsider, the Canadian recently signed a new deal with the company that is said to have a “pretty nice upside.” Precisely what does this new deal entail? It could be another match.

Edge, 46, retired from in-ring action due to a serious neck injury immediately following WrestleMania XXVII, during which he retained his World Heavyweight Championship in a match against Alberto Del Rio. Since then, the Rated-R Superstar has made multiple appearances on WWE programming, including at SummerSlam in August when he hit Elias with his signature spear, but he has never had an official match.

Edge has consistently denied on social media that he’s returning to action, but there’s a sizeable quantity of smoke billowing up from this alleged non-fire. At SummerSlam this past August, the Vikings’ star speared Elias, after which he said on his podcast that he felt physically capable of working another match.

The Hall of Famer has something of a history of sensational Royal Rumble returns – could he be in store for another one in 2020?
