On Saturday, Jan 11, NBC announced that it has ordered 11 episodes of the new comedy series, Young Rock. The series is based on Johnson’s childhood and will track his journey as a tumulous youth to be one of the biggest stars in the WWE.

In a video, The Rock had this to say about his upcoming comedy series.

“We’re going to find the Rock wreaking havoc in the streets of Hawaii getting arrested. We were forced to leave the island and move to all places, Nashville, Tennessee. Those were the years that were very formative and helped shape me. The confluence of wild personalities that came in and out of my life during these times are just fascinating.”

Fresh Off the Boat creators and executive producers, Nahnatchka Khan and Jeff Chiang are set to write the pilot for the upcoming series. The Rock is set to appear in every episode of the series and also will serve as an executive producer.

This has not been Johnson’s first time on the small screen since retiring from the WWE. HBO’s hit show, Ballers, aired its 5th and final season last year and Johnson has also been tied to another NBC show The Titan Games, which he is both hosting and the co-executive producer.
