One of the most exciting players in the NBA this year is Memphis Grizzlies rookie point guard Ja Morant. The electrifying point guard has a long highlight reel, including some monster dunks, so where should that lead him? Of course, the NBA Dunk Contest.

Unfortunately for fans, Morant has decided not to take part. According to Yahoo Sports, the No. 2 overall pick is focusing on his health and is being cautious in the recovery from back spasms he endured from an injury in November.

While we won’t see him this year, the dunk contest may be in his future.

Morant is currently averaging 18 points, 3.5 rebounds and 6.9 assists in 35 games played. During all-star weekend, Morant is likely to play in the Rising Stars game.
