The 86th year of Amateur Night at the Apollo, sponsored by Coca-Cola, is set to begin on February 19.

The 86th year of the signature program will introduce the new “Set it Off Man” Greginald Spencer and will once again see contestants compete for the Amateur Night champion title.

The talent competition is one of the longest-running continuous events in New York City and is hosted by comedian Capone. The series will also have C.P. Lacey in the role of “Executioner,’ who will usher off booed contestants. Apollo’s Amateur Night house band is led by music director, Michael Mitchell.

Since the 1934 launch, Amateur Night has assisted some of the biggest artists in the world including Michael Jackson, D’Angelo, Lauryn Hill, and Ella Fitzgerald who won the very first year.

The grand prize for the winner this year is $20,000.
