PETA was gearing up to air a commercial during the Super Bowl that shows animated animals taking a knee during the National Anthem, protesting injustice. But the organization claims that the NFL is pressuring FOX not to air the ad.
TMZ reports that the company’s goal is to advocate for the end of speciesism. To “challenge people to expand their concept of injustice to include humans’ injustice against other species.” In a nutshell, they just want the killing to end regardless if you’re an animal or a human.
PETA says they submitted the ad since December, and although they were told it was being reviewed, they haven’t heard a word back since. They’re even willing to air the commercial on local markets before or after the Super Bowl, but their requests have gone unanswered.
PETA says their agents reportedly told them that the NFL was in the way. A source close to the league reportedly said the network has the last say on approved ads, but we’re all aware of the power and influence of the National Football League.
