Lin-Manuel Miranda’s smash-hit stage musical Hamilton is finally headed to movie theaters. Disney will debut a film version of the Broadway play to release in US and Canadian theaters on October 15, 2021.
The movie will include the original cast in its full glory: Miranda as Alexander Hamilton; Daveed Diggs as Marquis de Lafayette/Thomas Jefferson; Renée Elise Goldsberry as Angelica Schuyler; Leslie Odom, Jr. as Aaron Burr; Christopher Jackson as George Washington; Jonathan Groff as King George; Phillipa Soo as Eliza Hamilton; Jasmine Cephas Jones as Peggy Schuyler/Maria Reynolds; Okieriete Onaodowan as Hercules Mulligan/James Madison; and Anthony Ramos as John Laurens/Philip Hamilton.
If your not familiar with the play, Hamilton features a combination of hip-hop, R&B, soul, and show tunes to help examine former Treasury Secretary Alexander Hamilton’s story through a modern lens.
Since premiering Off-Broadway at the Public Theater, Hamilton has racked many accolades, including the Pulitzer Prize for Drama and 11 Tony Awards.
This is a huge win for Disney and theatergoers around the world. Hamilton has been sold out for years, but now, if you didn’t get a chance to experience it on Broadway, now you can for a much cheaper price.
