A key witness against Harvey Weinstein is in hospital after being run down by a car.
According to a confirmed news report, Dr. Barbara Ziv, a forensic psychologist who testified for the prosecution at the trial of disgraced movie mogul Harvey Weinstein about “rape myths” was hit by a car while crossing a street in Philadelphia and has multiple broken bones.
Ziv’s expert witness testimony at the Weinstein trial last month largely focused on sexual assault and victim behavior after attacks. She explained why Weinstein’s victims stayed friendly with him even after he raped them. Dr. Ziv’s testimony was considered crucial to the jury reaching a guilty verdict.
On Monday, a jury in New York found Weinstein guilty of rape and criminal sexual act in the first degree but dismissed the more severe charges of predatory sexual assault and first-degree rape. Weinstein, who is now incarcerated, faces decades in prison at sentencing.
