It may appear that James Winston might have played his final game in Tampa Bay.
According to Peter King of Football Morning in America, Winston is “likely” to depart the Buccaneers this offseason. King expects Winston to leave Tampa Bay and struggle to find a starting job in 2020.
ESPN’s Jenna Laine didn’t cosign King’s story but admits Buccaneers’ head coach Bruce Arians is looking for an upgrade of the quarterback position.
Winston had an interesting 2019 NFL season, to say the least. Winston led the NFL in passing yards (5,109) and was second in touchdowns (33) but also threw a league-wide 30 interceptions.
Since being picked fifth overall in the 2015 NFL Draft, Winston’s posted a 28-42 record. While nobody is questioning if Winston can play in the league, many are speculating if a new team would serve him better right about now?
If Tom Brady resigns with the New England Patriots, Winston will become one of the top quarterbacks teams will be on the hunt for during the 2020 free agency.
