Petty will see a judge later today. The report states Petty was pulled over in Beverly Hills in November 2019, which kickstarted his current legal issues. During the November 15 traffic stop, Petty was found to have registered as a sex offender in New York State but did not in California although it was required. He was arrested, charged with failing to register as a sex offender and released on a $20,000 bond.

After that incident, he did not correct the issue and now it has become a federal case, indicted on the same charges.

Petty was convicted in 1995 for first-degree attempted rape and served nearly four years in prison in New York. If convicted, Petty faces up to 10 years in prison.

Just last week, Nicki Minaj sent a message out to media, rappers and fans about her husband after a video of him in Trinidad during carnival hit online showing Petty push away someone reaching for Minaj. Nicki would apologize on her husband’s behalf before letting off her message.

“My husband be all over the blogs & he don’t even know it,” she said. “No social media to see y’all talk about him more than y’all talk bout these rappers dats out here doin the most for y’all attention… I could never comment on a regular man this much.”

She would double down on the statement on Instagram stating: “Rappers would kill for this attention chile.”
