Elizabeth Warren Set to Suspend Her Presidential Campaign

The field for the Democratic Presidential nominee is dwindling to be a battle of Bernie Sanders and Joe Biden. Thursday morning, Senator Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts is planning to drop out the race, The New York Times reports.

A person close to the candidate states Warren will inform her staff and follow previous candidates to the political sideline.

Warren started out as a strong candidate and a focus on early states, however, she finished third in Iowa, fourth in New Hampshire and Nevada and fifth in South Carolina. The death blow appearing to be a third-place finish in Massachusetts.

New: Elizabeth Warren's campaign manager Roger Lau has just sent an email to all staff, first thanking them, and also sharing this blunt assessment about last night:

“We fell well short of viability goals and projections, and we are disappointed in the results.”

In that email, Lau says they're waiting for more results to come in and the race has been volatile, but again, says they are "obviously disappointed."

Lau has been with Warren a long time. In the all-staff, he also wrote:

"This decision is in her hands, and it’s important that she has the time and space to consider what comes next."
