When will some people learn, you can’t just walk into an airport and try to board a flight with a gun especially when your permit is valid somewhere else.
New York Jets defensive lineman Quinnen Williams was arrested on Thursday night for illegal possession of a firearm.
Williams was trying to board a flight at LaGuardia Airport in New York when he was arrested for criminal possession of a weapon. He has a permit to carry in his home state of Alabama, but not New York.
Under New York law, a concealed weapon is usually only legal if it is licensed in the state of New York.
In a statement released by the former Alabama All-American’s agent, Williams’ attorney Alex Spiro said: “Mr. Williams respects and follows the law. There was allegedly a technical issue with the manner in which the lawfully owned firearm was stored — and we expect the matter to be resolved shortly.”
Williams was the No. 3 overall pick by the Jets out of Alabama last year. He had 28 tackles and 2.5 sacks in 13 games last season. He missed some time due to an ankle injury.
