Her brother, Artis Mack, 28, was convicted of felony assault on James Ali Bashir, 68. Bashir was the trainer for Shields’ opponent Ivana Habazin. Afterward, the fight was postponed until January 10th. Shields defeated Habazin.

At the Shields-Habazin weigh-in last October in Shields’ hometown of Flint, Michigan, Mack sucker-punched Bashir. The hit was bad enough that he went to the hospital with a swollen and bloodied mouth.

The charge carried a maximum of 10 years in prison, however, Mack cut a deal with the prosecutors. He agreed to a plea deal of misdemeanor aggravated assault.

According to TMZ Sports, the judge also gave Mack credit for 158 days time served.

Shields returns to action on May 9th to become boxing’s first undisputed two-division world champion.
