The couple took to Instagram last Thursday to break the news to fans.  “We felt a bit tired, like we had colds, and some body aches. Rita had some chills that came and went. Slight fevers too. To play things right, as is needed in the world right now, we were tested for the Coronavirus and were found to be positive. Well, now. What to do next? The Medical Officials have protocols that must be followed. We Hanks’ will be tested, observed, and isolated for as long as public health and safety requires. Not much more to it than a one-day-at-a-time approach, no? We’ll keep the world posted and updated. Take care of yourselves!”

Their son, Colin Hanks has spoken out to update fans on the status of his parent’s health. “Despite the fact that I’m in LA and haven’t seen them in over three weeks, we have been in constant contact and I am confident that they will make a full recovery,” he stated.

Chet Hanks, son of the couple, also assured the public to not worry about his parents. Yeah, it’s true, my parents got coronavirus. It’s crazy. I just got off the phone with them, they both are fine, they’re not even that sick,” he said.

Hanks and his wife are currently in self-quarantine after being released from the hospital just five days after the news broke that the couple tested positive. Amid his release, Hanks encourages the public to follow safety precautions and take care of themselves.
