Eric Reid is one of Colin Kapernick’s biggest supporters. Unfortunately, he is at a crossroads in his career very similar to what Kapernick experienced on the way out the league.
The Panthers have informed Reid that they will release him, according to multiple reports. Reid confirmed the news on Twitter.
Reid started 29 games for the Panthers in two seasons and ended up being a nice addition to their defense. He had 130 tackles, four sacks and seven tackles for loss last season, all of which were career highs.
Reid was Kaepernick’s most visible supporter and joined him in his efforts to raise awareness for social justice and racial equality issues by kneeling during the national anthem.
While putting up career-best numbers, time will tell if another NFL team gives Ried another contract considering he is still vocal about Kapernick not being in the league.
