Kanye West’s Sunday Service was canceled last week as everyone is practicing social distancing to combat the coronavirus. The rapper reportedly made large donations to two meal services.

Ye donated to We Women Empowered, which is an initiative in his hometown of Chicago. The organization delivers three meals to Senior citizens in 10 Southside neighborhoods.

The org’s owner, Josephine “Mother” Wade, expressed her gratitude and revealed that she knew his mother. “Today, when I got that call that Kanye West wanted to help the elderly in Chicago and he chose his hometown in the South Side, his old neighborhood, I was beyond words,” Wade told the Sun-Times. “And in one phone call, in an instance today, our world has changed. He may not even realize it but I knew his mother and I used to help them many years ago. All I can say is, ‘Thank you, thank you, thank you.’ ”

Kanye West made a similar donation to a Los Angeles organization that delivers at least 7,000 meals to the less fortunate. Neither services disclosed the amount that the controversial artist donated but it was said to be a “significant and according to both charities, his donation will provide hundreds of thousands of meals and enable them both (both organizations) to provide food many weeks or likely months to come.”
