Karl Anthony towns took to Instagram to reveal his mother is in a dire condition due to the coronavirus.
The Minnesota Timberwolves All-Star revealed in an emotional post that his mother Jacqueline Cruz is in a medically induced coma due to lung problems due to COVID-19. Town’s main reason for talking about his mom’s situation is to educate those who don’t want to take this situation seriously.
In his Instagram video, Towns says he was told early last week that his parents were not feeling well, so he advised them to get medical attention. When there wasn’t an improvement, he advised his mom to go to the hospital. Towns says his mother’s fever was high and not improving, and her cough and lungs were getting worse. His dad was released and put into quarantine.
“I think it is important that everyone understands the severity of what’s happening in the world right now- the coronavirus,” Towns said in the video.
“This disease needs not to be taken lightly. Please protect your families, your loved ones, your friends, yourself. Practice social distancing. Please don’t be in places with a lot of people. This disease is deadly. We’re going to keep fighting.”
Towns isn’t asking sympathy with his Instagram post. He is simply bringing awareness on just how close to home coronavirus can hit. Prays up for Jacqueline.
