Things just got real for former NFL MVP Cam Newton. The former number one draft pick has been cut from the Carolina Panthers.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that Newton held a physical in Atlanta on Monday with the help of the Panthers, and it was determined that both his foot and shoulder are healthy. That’s a silver lining for Newton so he can begin the journey of finding a new NFL team.
Newton wasn’t necessarily upset to move on from Carolina — at least on social media.
When motivated, Newton is one of the best quarterbacks in the league.
Newton is a dominant force capable of putting an entire offense on his back. He has 240 regular-season touchdowns to his name (182 passing, 58 rushings) in 125 games and led Carolina to the playoffs four times during a five-season stretch between 2013 and 2017.
While there aren’t much opening spots left in the NFL, a team like the New England Patriots and Jacksonville Jaguars could benefit from a motivated Newton.
