As the coronavirus pandemic gets worse week by week, hospitals across the country are experiencing shortages of medical supplies. Healthcare workers have been pleading for the government to do something about the shortages, but they have largely gone unheard. Companies and small businesses have started to address the shortage of supplies by producing masks and other materials. Now, Future is one of those doing their part too.

On Friday, the Atlanta bred rapper’s nonprofit organization, Freewishes, launched the #MaskOn campaign. The non-profit has teamed up with Atlanta Sewing Style, a community of over 500 sewers and designers, to “create, cut, sew and deliver the much-needed masks” to healthcare workers and patients affected by the virus.

Future’s mom, Stephanie Jester, said in a statement posted on the Freewishes website, that “There is so much that needs to be done during this crisis and if everyone can step up in some way, we can all get through this together as we serve our community.”

The rapper’s sister, and Freewishes co-founder, Tia Wilburn-Anderson, added that “I think that our healthcare professionals are the heroes in this situation and they are risking their lives for everyone, so it is our responsibility to help protect them.” “It is important to my brother, Future and I that we are of service to our community, especially during this pandemic and throughout the year. This is why our family created the foundation”

While Future is giving back to the community, the Freebandz label continues to churn out hits. The most recent is Herion Young who drops “Sacrifices.” Young was once part of the 1800 Tequila album that featured Future. “Life shows you ups and downs and sometimes you have to make sacrifices to get through the storm and fight for the sun to shine,” Herion said.
