Flordia’s Governor Ron DeSantis has recently decided to finally shut down his state but he also said something worth listening to.
DeSantis said during a Wednesday press conference that the coronavirus first began making its way through Florida during Super Bowl week in Miami.
“The fact of the matter is, as we got into February, this thing was circulating. I think it was circulating during the Super Bowl. As you’ve been able to get more testing in Miami, you’ve been able to identify cases,” DeSantis said.
More than 200,000 people visited Miami during Super Bowl weekend. The first Florida case of COVID-19 didn’t emerge until roughly a month after the Super Bowl.
With the total coronavirus cases exceeding 200k, and Florida accounting for 6k of those cases, he could be right.
In February, the government didn’t really take the coronavirus seriously. Unfortunately, now isn’t the time for what-ifs and could of should of.
