Mumu Fresh releases her new joint “EmOGs” with vet Hip-Hop producer Salaam Remi and kicks it off an example of how ladies can check their men who keep going outside during the coronavirus pandemic.
One of Hip-Hop’s freshest talents, Maimouna Youssef has a voice (whether singing or emceeing) is top of the food chain. And every rapper that has the pedigree (Mos Def, Pharoahe Monch, Common, etc.) to dub this femcee as a royal lyricist has done so. But she is not just a rapper/ singer… she is a whole personality.
So, when ‘The Rona’ hit the world, smack dap in the middle of her releasing her latest project with super-producer Salaam Remi, the two had to come up with a way to be culturally responsible while being true to their art and mission.
A CGI video emerged from Remi’s mind, as he stepped up as the director and had everyone is cracking up at the roll out their lead single, “EmOGs.” Fans like Academy Award-winning Common and Niecy Nash couldn’t contain their approval and shared it on their Instagrams with their networks.
It opens with her man answering his iPhone saying, “Yo, what’s good?” as her animated self facetimes him. While she presses him on where he is… he tries to dodge the question.
She blacks on him saying, “Have you not been watching the news? It’s not safe for you to be outside right now!”
Ladies… have we not all had this same conversation during these troubling times? Hopefully, hard rocks listen up, get the message and while they at it get into this real bop.
