An Italian nurse claims his girlfriend gave him the coronavirus, in relation he strangled her to death, she was a doctor.

“I killed her because she gave me coronavirus,” 28-year-old Antonio De Pace told police on Tuesday. Police arrived at the scene and found a deceased Lorena Quaranta and De Pace with his wrist cut. The couple would then be rushed to the Sicilian hospital where their co-workers worked in an effort to save them. Both De Pace and Quaranta tested negative for the coronavirus.

“She was a doctor who was working hard to save others. It’s such a tragedy,” a police officer told The Sun. Prosecutors deem De Pace’s reasoning as “nonsense.”

Just before her death, Quaranta wrote about the difficulty of battling the deadly virus on her Facebook account, “Now more than ever we need to demonstrate responsibility and love for life. You must show respect for yourselves, your families and the country. You must think and remember those that dedicate their lives daily to looking after our sick.”
