L.Rucus Releases Visuals What You Say & Danger

This Bay Area rapper likes being the underdog because though it takes a little longer, he’s bound to come out on top. Despite being young, L.Rucus is a 10 year vet in the music game.

“I am still growing but hard work and consistency is paying off,” he said.
He’s back with his latest EP “Danger,” which he recently released.  It’s two singles presented in one visual for the music video “What You Say,” featuring Derek King and his solo single “Danger.”

The song came about after L.Rucus’ friend Solomon sent him the beat. They connected in LA and started working. The 6 hour drive back to the Bay Area from LA allowed him ample time to vibe to the beat and complete the song. He linked with Derek via Instagram and the rest was history from there.

“I’m a lyricist first and foremost but I can always appreciate a sonically pleasing arrangement. So I was playing with different harmonies, notes and cadences.” The concept of the visual came about through a clever marketing idea. He thought together the two records could really tell a story. Separating them would cost too much to get done but together he could kill two birds with one stone.

“Promote two records, under the guise of 1 video and bring the two songs together to tie in a compelling visual,” said L.Rucus. The song depicts the protagonist in the music game getting caught up with the physical allures so to speak. Because of his lowered guard he ends up getting caught lacking by a vixen who had her eyes on him and gets set up. The premise is pretty simple, but the direction he wanted to present and how he wanted the shots to be done were what helped bring it together. His friend Allen of Red Fox productions had a lot of back and forth convos with the artist and he helped conceptualize pieces as well.

“I wanted to really show my ability as not only an artist, but a visionary when it comes to the craft.”  L.Rucus has tapped big artists for collaborations and performed alongside one of his inspirations, Big Krit for his ‘A King Remembered In Time,” tour. In addition to that he has a collaboration with Mozzy that’s on the way. Other musical inspirations include Nipsey Hussle, Mozzy, Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole. Appreciating their music, helped him find my sound.

The rapper uses his personal experiences to write his music and is open to disclosing anything he’s personally faced from successes, failures and depression. L.Rucus takes pride in being a multi-factisted musical artist. The freedom of self expression in his music has allowed him to create songs that his fans can connect with.
