Salt-N-Pepa emerged in the late 1980s. The group consisted of Salt, Pepa, and Dj Spinderella (Deidra Roper). The New York rap duo signed to Next Plateau Records and was on radios across the country with their hit singles, “Push It,” “Let’s Talk About Sex,” “Shoop,” and “Whatta Man.”

Back in November, fans got a preview of the cast and were more focused on the fact that the cast looked nothing like Salt-N-Pepa. During this weekend’s premiere of The Clark Sisters: First Ladies of Gospel, LifeTime surprised fans with the trailer to the forthcoming biopic, and fans still seemed to not be satisfied. “Them girls look nothing lie Salt N Pepa, who casted this?” One post read. “Ummmmm why does the Salt N Pepa movie look…..broke?” another post read.

Salt-N-Pepa serves as executive producers on the Lifetime biopic and will be played by actresses, GG Townson (Salt) and Laila Odom (Pepa). No official release date has been announced, however, it’s safe to say fans of the 90s rap group better get ready for a night of nostalgia.
