22Gz has laid the foundation for the most in-demand sound coming out of the East Coast. Brooklyn Drill combines UK influence with New York’s midas touch. 22Gz emerged in 2017 following the release of his debut track “Surburban.” The breakout track was produced by AXL Beats.

Since the release of “Suburban,” the London based producer has gone on to produce standouts for Fivio Foreign, Drake, Travis Scott, the late Pop Smoke and more. As you can see, BK drill has continued to emerge since its origination with 22Gz.

As “Surburban” began to gain notoriety, it was noticed by multi-platinum rapper, Kodak Black. 22Gz was quickly signed to a deal with Kodak’s Sniper Gang label. The deal led to the release of the 22Gz’s first mixtape in 2019. The Blixky Tape even featured Sniper Gang’s Label head, Kodak Black, on “Spin The Block.”

Now the Atlantic Records signee is ready to take everything a step further with the release of his newest project, Growth and Development. On the tape, he gets personal with stories of his deceased father and his older brother who is facing time in prison. He follows up the BK drill foundational track “Suburban” with a “Pt.2.” Although he feels he isn’t accredited with what he started, he continues to push the cultural impact of the movement.

“Brooklyn Drill means everything to me, says 22Gz. “It was unbelievable and humbling to see everyone doing my dance and listening to the songs.”

At this point, it is more than just songs with catchy dances that can potentially score a Tik Tok takeover. It is an evolutionary genre, paved by the General Blixky himself.
