The NBA is inching closer to resuming their season. While there wasn’t much regular-season action left, one scenario that is gaining heavy traction is a 16 seeded playoff structure.
According to ESPN’s Brian Windhorst, the NBA is leaning toward jumping right into the postseason when play resumes. With games potentially being played at Disney World, there wouldn’t be any travel restrictions getting in the way of a 1-16 seeded playoff tournament.
It would be hard to see any reason for owners to object to seeding teams 1-16. There would be no extra gate receipts with every game housed in one central location without fans, and there wouldn’t be any issues with travel.
The NBA team owners should approve any voting for this one-time situation because of the eyeballs this tournament format would bring.
