This Tuesday (June 2), Sony/ATV will participate in Blackout Tuesday, in efforts to help combat racial discrimination and social injustice.

That Tuesday will be a day of reflection, connection, and education for the company, with aims to fight lasting change beyond Blackout Tuesday.

“In conjunction with Sony Music, we are partnering with organizations to support their movements to end systemic racism and wrongful convictions,” said Jon Platt, Chairman & CEO, Sony/ATV Music Publishing, in a statement.

Social media users may have noticed the effort for Music Industry Blackout Tuesday spreading online through the hashtag #TheShowMustBePaused. In the accompanying message, the purpose is stated to “take an urgent step of action to provoke accountability and change.”

“As gatekeepers of the culture, it’s our responsibility to not only come together to celebrate the wins, but also hold each other up during a loss,” the post reads.

Those that have shared the post online include Variety Music, Universal Music, Warner Music, and multiple more.
