News outlets have shared that all 50 states have held a protest in a call to action against police brutality. Among some of those protests, held passionate celebrities that spoke out to support the Black Lives Matter movement. One of those celebrities being Star Wars actor, John Boyega.
Boyega gained attention after trending on social media once videos of his remarks made it to the internet. The comments sparked blended reactions from fans. Some fans bolstered the actor utilizing his platform while others reprimanded the actor for his comments.
In an emotional video of the actor speaking out while holding a megaphone he said unto the crowd, “I’m speaking to you from my heart. Look, I don’t know if I’m going to have a career after this, but f*ck that.”
“Today is about innocent people who were halfway through their process. We don’t know what George Floyd could have achieved, we don’t know what Sandra Bland could have achieved, but today we’re going to make sure that won’t be an alien thought to our young ones,” he added with tears in his eyes.
At the point when the video surfaced the internet, Jordan Peele joined the conversation to let the actor know that his career will be just fine. After a Twitter user shared images of the actor with the megaphone, captioned with his concerns about his career following the protest, Peele retweeted the post and quoted it, “We got you, John.”
