Online gaming could be a battleground for some toxic racial talk, but Activision is reminding all their online players that right now we all could use some unity.

Players who booted up Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Warzone now will be prompted to download an update, and it’s added a new splash screen to the game announcing support for Black Lives Matter.

“Our community is hurting. The systemic inequalities our community experiences are once again center stage. Call of Duty and Infinity Ward stand for equality and inclusion. We stand against the racism and injustice our Black community endures. Until change happens and Black Lives Matter, we will never truly be the community we strive to be.”

This message arrives via an in-game update just three days after Activision opted to delay the next season of the popular game.

Several video game companies have issued statements of support for black communities this week following protests against police brutality in the US and the killing of George Floyd.

While these video game companies are issuing statements on social media, having the statement appearing on the screen, as the game loads up, hits a little differently.
