6ix9ine posted a video in the lab with Akon rocking out to a re-recorded version of the Konvict Muzik CEO’s hit single “Locked Up.” The original record featured The Lox’s Styles P, and now 6ix9ine is jumping on a 2020 version for his upcoming album.

“Locked up part 2 I’m on album mode,” 6ix9ine captioned the video. There were questions of who the rapper turned federal informant would be able to work with in the industry when he got released and now we have the answer.

“Being locked up can really change your prospective in life. Ask @6ix9ine,” Akon said on IG under his own post of the same video. The classic record being remixed by a rapper who snitched on his former affiliates is likely to turn some heads in the industry.

Akon defended 6ix9ine after he snitched on his crew saying that his youth was why he couldn’t hold the “Gummo” rapper to account for what happened. “Here’s the thing, he’s young bro…He had to literally decide, ‘What’s more valuable to me? My family or my future,’” Akon said in an interview with DJ Whoo Kid.

Lil Tjay jumped in Akon’s comments saying, “2 many real n****s felt this song for u 2 do that.” Tory Lanez who worked with 6ix9ine on his Dummy Boy album jokingly tweeted that he was only upset that Akon didn’t let him remix the record instead of 6ix9ine.
