Many people across the sports world have been wondering the state of the New Orleans Saints locker room following quarterback Drew Brees controversial kneeling sentiments and backtracking. On Tuesday, the Saints got together for another Zoom call and was had a special guest in Spike Lee.

The award-winning film director joined and complimented Brees on firing back at Donald Trump after the president stated he was a big fan of his due to his kneeling stance, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports. Brees wrote to Trump, “I realize this is not an issue about the American flag. It has never been. We can no longer use the flag to turn people away or distract them from the real issues that face our black communities.”

“The guest speaker on today’s Saints’ team Zoom call was Spike Lee, per source,” Schefter wrote. “Lee complimented Drew Brees for how he stood up to President Trump and then spoke 45 minutes about his experiences in race relations. The players loved Lee, said one person on the call.”

The relationship in the locker room is said to be healthy at this stage, which may be evident by a message by star wide receiver Michael Thomas on Twitter.
