Protestors in Atlanta have burned down the Wendy’s where Rayshard Brooks was killed on late Friday night. According to the Atlanta journal-Constitution, protestors broke the windows of the fast-food restaurant and threw fireworks inside.
Cortez Stafford, a spokesperson for the Atlanta Fire Department, said that the fire grew because it was unsafe for firefighters to go inside the restaurant. He said there were probably around 1000 protestors around the restaurant.
While the Wendy’s was set ablaze, protestors then blocked lanes on the I-85, one of Atlanta’s busiest freeways before police told the activists who locked arms across the freeway to disperse because they were violating the law.
Organizers encouraged people to leave but some of those who did not were arrested. The protestors then made their way to Atlanta’s Zone 3 police precinct where they chanted.
