The power couple of Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez are continuing their push to gain ownership of the New York Mets. According to the New York Post, J-Lo and A-Rod may have two backers who are ready to provide $250 million for their bid.
The famed actress/singer and former MLB superstar saw their odds at ownership increase after Billionaire Steve Cohen dropped his bid for the team earlier this year. The current owners, The Wilpon family, originally opened the market to sell the team in 2011. “J-Rod” has been looking into ownership since April of this year.
The Wilpon’s have been very hesitant in the sale trying to maximize the profit from selling the second team in the largest media market, New York City. The season while likely to be postponed is around the corner and any ownership changes likely wouldn’t occur during the season.
