The ESPYs took a non-traditional format this past Sunday to honor athletes, while also shining a light on social justice issues. During the telecast, a special moment was also taken out for the late Kobe Bryant, which was conducted by Los Angeles Lakers superfan and Hip-Hop icon, Snoop Dogg.
“From Compton to Long Beach to Watts we all peeped and watched you,” Snoop spit. “From Crenshaw to Malibu/We was all proud of you.”
The tribute would capture Kobe’s whole career from being drafted in the historic class of 1996 to winning championships in the purple and gold.
