In an unexpected response in a IG Live conversation, Brooklyn rapper Maino admits that he’s “cool with segregation” and that he “only loves those who love me.”

Not one to often speak on racial issues, Maino immediately took his position of “separate but equal” for Black people in American society, adding that Black people have gotten too used to loving their enemy while living under second class citizenship in this country.

With the racial climate of this country at its highest since the Civil Rights Era, some would say Maino’s message came right on time. While Black people in America fought for integration, many would admit that Black people made their greatest collective advancements under segregation laws.
