After tweeting that images of a false, white Jesus around the world should come down, King faced an onslaught of opposition, with some even calling for his life to be taken.

“Yes, I think the statues of the white European they claim is Jesus should also come down. They are a form of white supremacy. Always have been,” said King in his Monday tweet. He insisted that society get rid of “all murals and stained glass windows of white Jesus, and his European mother, and their white friends.” King continued, saying, “If your religion requires Jesus to be a blonde haired blue eyed Jesus, then your religion is not Christianity but white supremacy.”

On Tuesday, King said that the outrage and ridicule turned to threats on his thread almost immediatley.
