A second police officer was released from jail after posting bail on Saturday. Tou Thao who was the cop seen in the video confronting angry bystanders as Former Officer Chauvin kneeled on Floyd’s neck.

Thao was one of 3 officers charged with aiding and abetting and second-degree manslaughter in the George Floyd case. The 34-year-old former cop is scheduled to appear in court on September 11.

Another former officer in the case, J. Alexander Keung, was released back in June. The remaining two officers, Derek Chauvin and Thomas Lane remain in police custody. Chauvin has been charged with second-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter.

The four officers involved in the death of George Floyd set off nationwide protests and demands for reform in policing. Minnesota House Rep. Ilhan Omar has called for defunding the police and city council members in Minneapolis have pledged the make this a reality.

Other cities across the nation have followed suit with Los Angeles and New York City re-purposing $1 billion from the LAPD and NYPD respectively.
