The gathering site, which has stood for about a century, features a sculpture of Gen. Robert E. Lee, Confederate President Jefferson Davis and Gen. Thomas J. “Stonewall” Jackson carved into a granite mountainside and is the largest Confederate monument in history.

The Stone Mountain Memorial Association spokesperson said that the protesters, which numbered in the hundreds, protested peacefully.
