A-Rod and J-Lo aren’t playing around in their quest to own the New York Mets franchise. The married couple has been chasing ownership since April and now they’ve added a few superstar athletes to their investment group.
According to reports, “J-Rod” has brought on board Washington Wizards Guard Bradley Beal, Hall of Fame Chicago Bears Linebacker Brian Urlacher and Kansas City Chiefs Tight End Travis Kelce. Other athletes who are involved in the potential deal are former Cleveland Browns Offensive Lineman Joe Thomas, former Dallas Cowboys Running Back Demarco Murray and Denver Nuggets Center Mason Plumlee.
“Being a former athlete and having a chance to be a part of a group trying to purchase a professional team, it’s pretty cool,” Urlacher told ESPN. “It’s especially cool to be involved with Alex. Alex is the man. You’ve got Kelce, Joe Thomas, DeMarco Murray. It’s great to be in a group with them.”
The power couple has already invested $300 million of their own money. Their total bid has reached $1.7 billion with other investors looped in. According to the New York Post, Mets COO Jeff Wilpon is willing to sell to J-Lo and A-Rod but their bid has to be close to the highest offer they received which was $2 billion by Billionaire investor Steve Cohen.
