Atlanta-based rapper Lay B is dropping the first taste of what he has to offer to Hip-Hop with “Rags 2 Riches,” a powerful joint that sees the upcoming emcee share in total transparency his personal story with rapping. With a real dicey past but Inspired by his father, himself a rapper, Lay B would imitate everything he did and take beats from his father’s catalogue and write and rap on them. For a long time, his father was his main inspiration. Later on, legendary rappers such as Tupac Shakur, Biggie Smallz, Eminem, Nas, and 50 Cent were among the heavyweight artists that further inspired Lay B to create his own lane in rap, thanks to brutally honest lyrics and surgically precise deliveries.
Lay B’s signature sound transformed drastically over the years, from raw and lyrical rapping to become a much more complete sound where the mix, input and melodies are blended with a rare to find artistry.
The New Brunswick, New Jersey-native went on to sign with Global Status Inc. – a powerhouse in the music industry for artist development. They went on to record and produce “Rags 2 Riches,” a flawless production in which Lay B shares his story upgrading from a mediocre everyday rap to just going all-in, a process he was able to achieve thanks to the constant constructive criticism of his brother all along the way.
