Pilar Scratch epitomizes perseverance and instills the same quality within her son, River Mason-Eromosele. The multi-award-winning celebrity designer and fashion consultant has influenced the style of many artists including Afro B, Musiq Soulchild, DJ Enuff, Rah Digga and more. The latter happens to be a her aunt. While Pilar has earned her stripes as a trusted and decorated stylist, her humble journey began with the hunger for more.

While attending college to obtain a teaching degree, she became pregnant with her son, River Mason-Eromosele. At 19 year-old, she made the decision to follow her passion and pursue a career that fulfilled her. As a mother-to-be, Pilar looked to be a model for her son to follow his dreams. Therefore, she decided to forgo her degree and pursue fashion. She remained persistent in seeking opportunities. This led to an internship with Emmy Award winning stylist and designer, Patricia Field and the rest was history.

Throughout her success in fashion, Pilar is most proud of raising her superstar son, River Mason-Eromosele At 9 years-old, River is a published author, model, actor and influencer. He has been featured on Nickelodeon, PBS, Dr. Oz and most recently, Forbes. His latest book entitled, The Sky’s The Limit. serves as a healing guide for children. The book is filled with positive affirmations and methods to help frame the mind for youth of the same age.

As a toddler, River often accompanied his mother to work. His moment arrived on a commercial set, where one kid did not show up. He received his big break and the rest was history. Pilar makes it a priority to educate River on the importance of using his voice as an African-American man. As a 9 year-old published author, it is safe to say he is well on his way to amplify young voices.

Both Pilar and River were recently nominated for the esteemed Forbes 30 under 30 list for 2020 as well. The mother-son duo continue to not miss a beat.
