Walk me through your childhood, what was it like growing up?

I grew up in East Palo Alto, CA. It’s The Black Sheep City of the bay but some crazy talent crawls out of there. Growing up in East Palo Alto was fun. I was a kid so the struggle didn’t really phase me until I was old enough to understand it. It was everything growing up in the bay. It gave me a demeanor that cannot be touched. My life was raggedy. We lived in a 2 bedroom shack. Like 10 of us. Everybody is doing something to make money, Hair, Selling weed etc. I grew up around Unity and Love.

Who were some of your influences then and now?

Hands Down Janet Jackson, Lil Kim and Missy Elliot were my top influencers as a child, And Now.  If I had to pick my top influencers of today it would have to be Drake, Travis Scott and Jay Z.

How’d you get into the music industry?

Man! I can’t cap it was tough. They tried to shut me out in every direction. Me being a Gay Female was already the downer because a lot of Music Executives utilize their power incorrectly and use it more for pleasure than business. I just prayed hard and went hard non-stop and I felt like I needed someone to represent me to avoid the politics of the game. So I used my girl and bait. She took the position as my manager and all she had to do was  say I have this artist I want you to hear and once I got in and they took the time to hear me out it worked. S/O to Gary Leon he’s always kept it business and really put me on without question when he met me. Through Gary and Jaleesa I got a writer’s position at Atlantic records in Los Angeles,CA.

How did the name Mother Goat come about?

Damn… The name came when we were all faded doing a 12 hour session and I was going in inside the booth and when I came out my homeboy was like damn you the goat. You should change your name to THE GOAT. I immediately was like yeah that shit sounds crazy but I wanna make it catchy. How could I call myself a goat but make it sound good when you say it and catch people’s attention when they hear it so we just threw different ideas around the room and a beat came on and I started chanting Mother Goat, Mother goat, Mother Goat, and at that moment we knew we had it.

What are some of the challenges you had to face to get where you’re at?

A Lot of closed doors, A lot of No’s. People are afraid of my image. I’m not your average Lil Kim, Or Nicki Minaj. I’m a grimy one, Real street vessel. So the No’s really held me back from getting here sooner. Shit was mentally draining and at times I wanted to give up. But I’m GOD fearing so I kept pushing now I’m up. As Far as my personal challenges, Shit nothing. The Struggle is beautiful it creates everyone so all I gotta say to that is S/O to the MUD Tho! The Struggle Made ME!

Where are you going to go next with your career?

Introducing my artistry to the world. I’ve been writing for others the past 4 years so I feel it’s appropriate to step out and give y’all a dose of me. I just launched my own Cannabis Line called “ Goat Smoke” IG: @Goatsmokepremiumflower Plan on opening a storefront late January 2020. I’ll be on a few screens here and there just spreading my wings as far as they can go. Pushing myself extremely hard to create wealth in my family.
