Young was casted as an extra. Before filming began for the day, Foxx first noticed J Young after seeing his resemblance to the late legends Tupac Shakur and Kobe Bryant. While on set the following day, he got an opportunity to play his music for the Oscar Award-winning actor. When Foxx initially denied Young’s request to perform, he asked if he could at least introduce his track before playing it on the speak.

J Young MDK was given the mic and made the most of his moment. He performed his song and the audience was blown away. This moment led to him exchanging contact with Jamie’s team. He later flew out Los Angeles to meet him. After six days of no response, he finally got a call to go to Foxx’s home.

During the pandemic, he has grown both musically and physically. The down timed inspired the ATL crooner to deliver his 50 songs in 50 weeks presentation. As a talented dual threat artist, J Young would drop a rap record or an R&B song. Therefore, fans could only anticipate the release, but the genre was unexpected. From there, his double project release was birth.

J Young MDK released two albums entitled Aqua and Black. On the latter project, the “Winning” artist hops into his rapping bag with standout tracks such as “Asia” and the “Don’t Leave.” The Outlawz jumped on the remix in dedication to the ongoing fight against racial injustice. On the other hand, Aqua explores the crooner in J Young. He provides both R&B and Caribbean vibes that give listeners a realm to escape to, despite the isolation from the pandemic.
