On his last full day in office, Donald Trump granted pardons and commuted sentences for over 150 prisoners. One of those expecting to be pardoned was Joe Exotic aka Tiger King. The Netflix star hired a stretch limo and a hair and make-up crew for his release, however, things did not go as planned.

Although Exotic and his team may be let down since the star will remain behind bars, Carole Baskin is one person who claims she is relieved. “It’s such an absolute sense of relief because it’s not just been waiting yesterday and today, it’s been from the day he was sentenced that we have been concerned that he could receive a presidential pardon,” said Baskin.

Baskin shares with Metro K that she tried to remove any thoughts of the Tiger King potentially receiving a presidential pardon. “I think, what you think about you bring about, so I’ve tried very hard not to think about him getting a pardon and yet every five minutes someone from the media is like, ‘What do you think about him getting a pardon?'”

Baskin also shares that she still doesn’t feel safe. “I feel safer from Joe but I don’t feel safe in general though. He can still finish what he set out to do and he’s got less of a reason not to do it now he’s already in jail.”

Last spring, a jury convicted the Tiger King on two counts of murder for hire and 17 wildlife charges.

Exotic, 57 is expected to be released from prison in July 2037.
