It seems like Dr. Dre’s past is coming to haunt him amid an ugly divorce battle with his estranged wife, Nicole Young, and a nearly fatal health scare.
His father, Theodore Young, participated in a tell-all interview with Page Six and said he doesn’t remember the last time he saw his mogul son.
“I haven’t seen Andre since his grandfather died and I can’t even remember when that was,” the 73-year-old said, adding that his success contributed to their strenuous relationship.
“We have no relationship. My other sons love me. They tell me they love me,” he explained. “But coming from where I come from, most young men like Andre who have a big success don’t give a damn about their dad.”
Dr. Dre claimed to never have a relationship with his father prior to his rise to fame. Young split from his mother, Verna, when he was a child and also accused of him abuse which he denied.
“His grandmother raised him,” Young said, admitting that he wasn’t a pillar of love or support for Dre growing up.
The producer’s oldest daughter recently came out and said she hasn’t seen her father in 17 years and he never met his grand child.
“She is throwing the father of her children under the bus,” a source close to Dre told Page Six said of Young’s allegations. “It broke his heart.” Sources added that Dre is trying hard not to be seen as “misogynistic or abusive in his divorce.”
