According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, the Rockets will be parting ways with Cousins in the days to come. The team wants to focus on a smaller lineup and wants to grant Cousins the chance to land elsewhere.

Cousins has been playing well for the Rockets despite the team being currently on a seven-game losing streak. With Christian Wood sidelined, Cousins has been serving as Houston’s starting center and has been holding that spot down pretty well. For the season, Cousins is averaging 12.1 points and 9 rebounds per game.

The Rockets, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, fully guaranteed Cousins’ contract through the end of the season on Friday. Once the separation is official, Cousins will be able to sign wherever he wants. Expect to see several playoff-contending teams looking to pursuit Cousins in the buyout market very soon.
