It’s the collaboration we failed to ask for. Yet, somehow the universe has found a way to gift us with an opportune meeting point shared between Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak as the two musicians join forces as Silk Sonic.
Friday (March 5th), the duo arrived with their “Leave The Door Open” single, the first taste of what’s to come of the collaborative Evening With Silk Sonic album. The result is a groovy and inspired release that finds itself well at home in both men’s catalogs.
Produced by Bruno Mars and D’Mile (Lucky Daye, Ari Lennox, H.E.R.), the new selection is accompanied by a new clip that, though rather simplistic, packs an expected amount of theatrics to bring the cut to life. As for the full-length offering, listeners should expect to be guided along an aural journey by none other than Bootsy Collins, who is also responsible for coining the name Silk Sonic.
The album will be the first for Mars since 2016’s 24K Magic in which he firmly established his stake in this sonic vein. As for .Paak, the last full-length entry we received was 2019’s Ventura. The duo managed to tour together at a midpoint between these two releases in 2017. During that time, they reportedly got some work done with the likes of Disclosure and Nile Rodgers.
An Evening With Silk Sonic currently offers no official release date. In the meantime, enjoy “Leave The Door Open.”
