Beyoncé is once again the most nominated artist for the GRAMMY awards but she won’t touch the stage. In an L.A. Times feature, Recording Academy interim chief executive Harvey Mason Jr. spoke to The Weeknd’s recent remarks but also to the top acts that are nominated like the “Black Parade” creator not performing.
This is the third time in recent years that the leading vote getter did not take the stage, following Kendrick Lamar opting to not perform in 2019 and JAY-Z in 2018. Mason believes the show would be better if Beyoncé were to perform or attend.
“It’s unfortunate, because she’s such a big part of the Recording Academy,” Mason said of Beyoncé’s decision. “We absolutely wish we had her onstage.”
While Queen Bey won’t be on stage, Silk Sonic, Megan Thee Stallion, Lil Baby, Roddy Ricch, and more will be.
