Odds are if you were in an ear’s reach of Jazmine Sullivan’s Heaux Tales album at any point this year, you’re likely to still have the project or any combination of its selections stuck on rotation.
The effort pinned an unequivocal return to form for the songstress and marked a promising convergence of R&B’s past and present in the process. Now, Sullivan continues the campaign with an official music video for lead single “Pick Up Your Feelings.”
In the newest clip, the backdrop goes back in time as Sullivan and her band perform in a retro setting to a crowd of one–the (now) former lover at the heart of the cut. The video takes its style directly from the performance that Jazmine offered to audiences at last year’s Soul Train Awards. For those who missed it, the performance also included a rendition of Heaux Tales standout “Lost One.”
