Rene Bonét, the Thrash Goddess and R&B songstress is making a lot of noise. Her latest release “Trendsetter” features the aggressive unleashing of her alter ego Bully Barbé. We got a glimpse of Bully Barbé first through the self-titled EP she released in late February. The project features production from Atlanta’s masked producer Weku Did That. Her delivery on this project was something unexpected but well received. Hard hitting 808’s over eccentric guitar melodies and rifts has you completely captivated and in your own rock concert. I can elegantly say that Bully Barbé is creating her own lane and a new genre of music. The visuals for “Trendsetter” features Rene Bonét, in and throughout the city of Atlanta where the DMV Native now resides. It’s grungy and really embodies the music. This was pleasing to see an artist of her caliber paying homage to the city that has played a major part in her growth.

Her song “Shawdy” reminds you of what you’re familiar with from the R&B / Hip Hop artist, classic R&B. The visual brings her to life as the girl next door and she is definitely made for the camera. Her performance is emotionally modern, but retro. Pulling on the heartstrings of anyone who truly loves R&B music. Her vocal delivery is exceptional and there is no doubt that she is setting a stage to be here for a long time. An artist that can safely jump between genres the way she is doing it, is truly something special and it is hard to ignore the work that she is putting in. Currently being represented by Novelty Publishing Group, they are keeping her on the move. Rene states “I’m always on the go between the studio, music videos, photo shoots, and performing, my team keeps me busy, but I love it”! Rene Bonét is setting the bar for artists on the rise. Carving out a niche for herself as “Bully Barbé” and safely slaying in the R&B world this lady is only in competition with herself! Check out her latest work through the links below.
